Default Do Motives Make Noise You Ask?! Lol

Yeah boy oh boy do they ever no offense to jeff because the jackasses I had installing them effed up reall good so technically I really dont know if they would be making noise right now. I right now have bought a set of precision gear still need them installed thought. All thought I am telling you this it seems like a whole new car with the 4"10's in there Tell me has anyone had any experience with prescion gear?

Do you have the standard Motives or Motive Performance gears? Since you referred to Jeff, i assume you ordered them from Jaws Gear. I just ordered a set of Motive Performance 4.10's for my A4 from Jeff. He said the Motives tend to be loud but the Performance set is much quieter.

Who makes all the factory gears? They seem to be quite quiet?

they are motive performance the thick cut gears I would assume that they probabaly dont make any noise if set up right. Jeff is awsome thought, All thought I wish I had never brought it to the place where I had them installed at.

Dang i got the exact same gears. I got the thick Motive Performance gears to fit my 2 series carrier. How loud are they? For example, if you were to turn your radio up to a relatively loud level, could you still hear the gears over the radio?

i have motive performance gears at a 4.11 ratio and there is one speed where you can barely hear them but other than that they are quiet.

They "howl" at all speeds but it's mainly because they werent set up right too
I'm happy with them thought because I cant keep traction in 1st gear LOL.

Two questions:

1. Did you break in the gears? If you had them installed and starting flooring it the day of, that could be a part of why they're howling.

2. Have you tested out your top speed? I'm wondering what it is for a A4.

I believe AAM is the actual manufacturer/subcontractor, but I could be wrong.

Ive got a set of performance 3.90s from motive and they hum alittle at highway speeds, but i did the break in and we made sure they were perfect. I even used a heavier wieght oil for the break in period. I shaved 3 tenths in the 1/4 though so i dont mind alittle hum!
