I have a set of hub centric ones that use two sets of studs. The axel studs hold the rotor and spacers on and then there is another set of stud coming out of the spacers that are heavy duty. I forget which brand but I got it from a corvette forum sponsor and read they are the same ones Porsche use or something and are made of magnesium and billet aluminum. They are light and the machinist who modified them because of my custom Moser axels said they were a pain to machine because they were so tough he said. And yes they were pricy but I didn’t want that kind of thing to happen to me so I figured it was worth the cost. I guess when I get the car all done we will see if they can hold the power and traction of a launch but for the time I have driven it which would be about 3000 miles or so they have never back off or showed any signs of problems.

Properly set up adapters use longer, upgraded studs to bolt to the car. I trust adapters from Skulte. Im running his on the front of my car, and I check them periodically and they are still working perfectly.
Ive got buddies with jeeps that run 2-3" adapters on all 4 wheels. And one of them has an Atlas transfer case... SO when he is in his lowest gear all around, its over 1000 ft lbs of torque easy. No issues. I would never run "spacers" though...unless they were around 1/8" to 1/4". Some cars come from the factory with a thin spacer. But any thicker than that, and Ide be trying to step up to a bolt on adapter.

Stock lugs are NOT long enough to work with 1/4" spacer, I know this from experience as well . Didn't have a wheel fall off, but I couldn't get proper torque on the lug nuts either, and I ended up messing the threads on the studs in the process!!
I'm now running a set of Skulte's 1/2" spacers, but with ARP 2.5" lugs .
