Default 10 bolt vs 12 bolt.

I was just wondering what everyones expirience was when the changed or swapped over. How much rwhp do you loose, how does it affect your quarter mile times, how much extra weight is it... things like that.

I just went from the stock 10 bolt to a strange 12 bolt, lost almost 20 RWHP, havent ran it at the track yet but it feels and pulls stronger then the 10 bolt. As far as weight, I think it was something like 70 pounds???

47 pounds is the difference we found between the 10 bolt and the Moser 12 bolt. Bob

I just went from a 10 bolt to a Strange 12bolt. Don't really know how much I lost because I was having other issues with the tuning before the install but it sure pulls alot harder. Let me know if you are interested in a strange 12bolt. I have a friend that owns a shop around here and he can get you a good price. PM me if you are interested. The only bad thing about strange is they take so damn long (3-4 weeks is the norm) to get the rear end to you because they don't build it until you order it.

A stronger rearend does NOT "pull harder". Period.
If you went with a lower gear, then you are feeling that difference.

arg thats what i thought. I just dont want it to slow me down a ton, im wondering how much im gunna loose going to this new peice.

Also just read someware aluminm flywheels arent good for dragracing???? something about it doesnt have enough inetria so when you launch hard it doent pull... sounds like BS to me, i would think its faster

Id say if your in the 9's and running the 10 bolt the upgrade to an aftermarket rear isnt even an question, you may lose a tenth or two because of the weight and parisitic loss associated with more mas in the interninal componunts of a bigger rear but your not going to be going very fast on a broken stocker rear.

Yes a heavier flywheel is better for dragracing.

if you're in the 9's, you already don't have a 7.5 ten bolt

or the car weighs 785 lbs
