Mobil 85w140 Gear Oil

I have a strange 12 bolt and I was wondering if anybody has ran mobil gear oil in it. I believe this is non sythentic gear oil. I have a pic of what it is... bad idea? good idea? any feedback greatly appreciated

I know that the recommended for stock is a 75/90 not sure why the strange would want the heavier. Also stock is a synthetic gear lube, not conventional.
