Axle repair bearing

Axle repair bearing I just installed a Timken axle repair bearing on one of my camaros because the axle was pitted up. It's a near stock car, drivers side. Do these work ok?
I've used them before in a 8.8 ford rear that was in an S10 with no problems, but it was not a daily driver, and never went on long trips (1000 miles+).
There was a problem here though because it has a torsen diff and the axle wouldn't go in far enough. I had to push it in with a c-clamp clamped to the axle flange and backing plate, it seems this would have shoved the taper on the axle into the seal.
Other than that are these things reliable?
