Default Gear Whine Question

When I'm accelerating hard my gears don't make any noise, well at least I can't really hear them, but when I'm crusing they are loud and if I let off the gas the will be silent.

I stopped driving the car to avoid ruining my gears until I get the whine figured out, but which side do I have to shim to quiet them down? Or are the gears already shot? They only have about 200 miles on them, but were quiet at first, but a few good shifts later they are making noise.

I might end up ordering a new set and having them professionally done, but I might just mess those up in a few hundred miles too.

You need to shim the pinion.
