Default Picking a good gear ratio?

I have a 94 LT1 6-speed car with heads cam and sray, I had a stock 10 bolt and broke it. I found a sweet deal on a moser 12 bolt. It had a set of 4:56 gears in it. My problem is threw a 1/4 mile im running out of gear and having to shift into 5th gear. Any suggestions on a good ratio would be great.

Quick fix, By a taller tire. Problem solved.

I run 4.30's in my 9" and run 26.5" tall tires at the track I trap at 6500 RPM's in 4th.

4.10's would be perfect. I'm also about to ditch my 4.56's (same deal as you, they came with the rear) in favor of 4.30's.

^^^^Agreed, don't go about it backwards. Figure out tire combo and then buy a gear.

I am currently running a 26" DR, but will probably buy new 26.5" DR. Im turning around 6400rpm and falling probably 450- 500 ft. of the line in fourth. What do you guys think? Jaws if you carry anything for a moser 12 bolt i would be interested.

depends how high you are revving, stock cam or bigger cam? there is a calculator.. and if you know what speed you are trapping at use the calculator and see how tall a tire ure gonna run, etc.. and what ure 5th gear is... probably .74, but IDK about LT1 T56s...
