gears whining

gears whining
i just put 3.73s in my z28 a4 and they where set too tight and i drove for three days with them whining bad then i pulled them and reshimmed them too .007 thou backlash and have been drivin for about 4 days and the more i drive the louder they get ......they mostly make noise when i set cruise between 55 and 65 but a little noise all the time.......is there any tricks to quiet them down a little let me know or did i ruin the gears while they were too tight.........my current gear fluid is 75w90 royal purple

i put richmonds in it .....and i dont know pinion depth , i had somebody helping me and he took care of all that .......but i saw on another thread u said something about overtightening the pinion nut and i did over tighten it when i did the setup the first time, what or which bearing would i have damaged by having the pinion nut too tight

True, as they are Richmond Gears I would agree, butif the pinionnut was over tightened and crush sleeve was over torqued it will damage the pinion bearings. When you set preload on the pinion bearings you are measuring in inch pounds NOT FOOT POUNDS. Used Bearings set around .006 to.008 inch pounds and New Bearings set around .012 to .015 inch pounds.
