Default For those of you, that have put in aftermarket Rears...

What would you have done differently? As far as, taking old one out, and putting the new one in...

The do's and don'ts that you wished you would have known while doing the swap..

Thanks guys.

Make sure you order the housing with the sway bar mounts and drain plug if 9" Diff. Also go with an aftermarket Torque Arm. Makes install much easier and cleaner.

Thanks,

I already have all that stuff. What I am wanting to know, is while you were doing the swap, what helpfull hints does everyone have, so it will be a more smoother process.... If there even is such a thing. lol....

Go very slowly and check/double check each step as you go..Use the best parts you can get and have professional help.

A good jack, Taller jack stands (4), better tools, and a bearing press. That's what I would have changed when I did my first....and second....and third. I found my Haynes manual to be helpful as far as steps to take and the all important torque specs....other than that take your time and find a friend to help you out.

I would have figured-out how to remove the emergency brake line from the black LCA bracket.

I put my S60 in no sweat. They said it is direct bolt in, and didn't realize what they meant about it. That thing is DIRECT BOLT IN and comes with everything needed to install the damn thing including oil, new swaybar links. The only thing that is important is that it requires a shorter driveshaft (1&1/2" shorter). My entire rear chassis was already complete but that (TA,PHR,LCAs,blah blah blah)The emergency brake is a pain in the rear(ha ha) but other than that was cake. I can't vouch for a 9" or 12 bolt though but could imagine it being any harder.

i see your enlisted(I'm Coast Guard) and did mine at my base's hobby shop on a lift. I put the car in the air, got 2 jackstands and placed them under the axletubes. Then slowly lowered the car down until the rear was being held by the stands without loading the suspension. Disassembled suspension and brakes, then lifted the car back up. Remove 10 bolt and out new rear on the jackstands which lines the rear up right where it needs to be. Then just lower it back down and reassemble everything.

stay with local places for parts as much as you can. all in all the 9 inch install went pretty good. haven't got track times out of it yet but it feels like a whole diffrent animal while out driving around. hopeing to put it in the 11's without ever pulling the valve covers lol. the stock 10 bolt pulled a 12.2 then snaped in half
