Default 12 bolt owners: have you had issues with your rear? Or is it still going strong?

I have heard a lot of people complaining about issues with 12 bolts, and not holding up with power and sticky tires. I guess I just have never heard the complaints specifically.

I have had a Moser 12 bolt for the last 6 years in my 614 RWHP Z, and make about 6 trips to the track a year. Each trip consisting of numerous 4,000+ RPM drops on slicks. Not to mention countless dead hooks on my DR's on the street, and other than the fact I had to have a rear sway bar relocator for the rear sway bar to fit properly around the 12 bolt, I have yet to have a single issue with it.

I started this thread for those with 12 bolts to throw up there .02 cents. Those who are like me and have nothing but good things to say about the 12 bolt. And also those that have had problems. If you have had problems, be specific. If it broke because of something you did incorrectly, also please state it.

I bought my Strange 12 bolt used and it has been an excellent purchase.
I am not running that much horsepower but I have a Rossler TH400 with Tbrake and RMVB and it shifts so harsh it took out my 3.73 geared 10 bolt in less than 1000 miles.

My Strange 12-bolt came shipped from the factory with the gears set up wrong, so it whines like a bitch, but it holds everything I've ever thrown at it...but granted, that isn't much. I'll reset the gears myself next spring.

Amen to that. I have a Moser 12 bolt with a spool and holy crap. I put on a new set of nittos in March, and they are toast.

Strange 12 bolt here....no problems here except gear whine.

I did shear off the wheel studs on the driver side, but i blame that on cheap studs and the spool working the lugs loose and then myself for not checking the lugs every so often. Expensive mistake to say the least, but after that I had a TruTrac put in, and no problems since

Strange 12 bolt for 2 years...Gears were noisey, and the Eaton couldn't handle hard launches very long. Since switched to a spool and 4.10s and all is well...

What causes the gear whine? Thats the only thing steering me away from getting a 12 bolt.
