Default Different size tires on rear axle?

I got a flat today, and after putting on the donut spare I realized it was quite a bit smaller in diameter than the regular tire.

Is that safe? I thought having two different size tires was bad for the limited slip?

I was always under the impression that you needed to have two tires the same height on a limited slip rear, or otherwise it could wear the clutches and damage the diff.

I know it was the stock spare, but even so, I drove 40 miles on it today and am a little worried that I may have done some damage to the diff.

As long as you don't get on it enough to engage the limited slip, I don't see where you're going to hurt anything. Even if you did get on it, 40 miles of driving isn't much at all. Bob
