Default 2010 A6 SS Kooks/Corsa/Tune Results

Just completed the tuning of a Black 2010 SS/RS A6. Customer dropped it off yesterday afternoon where we baselined the car, the results were 318.9rwhp@5762rpm and 331.4rwtq@3737rpm. First thing this morning we put it on the rack where stated the removal of the factory exhaust. Ease of access to the header bolts is amazing compared to the previous gen Camaro's, as I'm sure most of you already no. Installation of the headers was a breeze, and the catback was actually a bit tougher. Mostly due to it's size and weight while trying to line everything up. But for starting the tear down at 8am, it was on the dyno a little before 1pm. The rest was up to me, and the trusty Mustang MD-1100SE dyno. A few hours of tuning later and we ended up with 354.7rwhp@5520rpm, and 364.9rwtq@4385rpm.

This resulted in a 35.8rwhp and 33.5rwtp pick ups from just exhaust and a tune. I'd like to see how much this set up would gain from a Vararam intake. With G8's we've seen more than 30rwtq and 25rwhhp gains at the tires time and time again. Until Vararam comes out with one the customer will be keeping the factory intake. Here's pics of the dyno sheets with overlays, as well as pics of the exhaust system.

Not too shabby for a Caddy V6. Now its time to put a whoppin on some Mustang V8s.

I'm pretty sure that the SS comes with a V8 (L99 for the A6 and an LS3 with the M6). The picture of the headers show 4 tubes on each side.

Those numbers would be Off the Hook if that was a V6! Heck, you could buy the V6 model, add headers, exhaust, tune and be money ahead of buying the V8 (minus all of the torque, and the fact that you could've had a V8 ).

That would be a Great deal!

Might not be a very forgiving dyno, mine dynoed a lot lower stock than most of the numbers I've seen, but on a crappy track totally stock it still went 13.2, I'm sure if I would have gotten more than 2 passes in that day to get the feel of the car I may have broke into the 12's. Now I'll never know though, since it's modded a lot now.

Good Job Mike, We also seen similar results with Kooks Headers Kooks Exhaust and Cold Air Inductions CAI and a tune.

370 RWHP 387 RWTQ, 12.47et 112 mph on factory tires.

The CAI was worth about 10

The Auto had to be eased out of the hole or it would spin through 1st and second.

Ted.

It's inline with what we see with the 6L80E trans missions. Most A6 Vettes dyno about 320-330rwhp on our dyno, and G8 GT's are right at 310-320. Not locking the torque converter, and having no 1:1 trans ratio will always skew rwhp number. Now also consider we use a Mustand MD-1100 SE dyno and not a DynoJet. Regardless net gain is net gain. A 40rwhp increase whether you started with 200rwhp or 600rwhp is still a 40rwhp gain.

Every car is different, every dyno is different, every day is different.

true...the gain is what I was looking for really. I just know a few of my buddies that tune for a living were discussing some odd stuff from the GM High Tech article with the 2010 Camaro.
here's my question...my tune netted about 20hp...so with the full exhaust and a tune your netting another 15 horse? Just a lot of cash for 15horse. Now...I would also like to revisit this once you get an intake on the car...may be that the car needs to injest some more air...like others said here.

And understand something...I don't have a beef with your shop or anyone else's shop...it seems the exhaust manufacturers are advertising gains off headers and gains off cat-back systems that are crank HP numbers. Know what I'm saying? I actually appreciate your shop and Jannetty, LMR, EPP...all of the others that are posting tuned gains and untuned gains. It lets us, the consumer, know where the BS stops.

LOL, if we added up all the gain manufacturers claim we would have 1000 hp daily drivers. J. K.

You might find this CAI Test interesting http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48202
