Didn't take long to see great results, well done!

Funny how walking the walk silences more critics.

Easy there, it has 700 rwhp. Impressive? Yes, but still a let down when you see it weighed in at 4295 lbs. That's a fast car but not when you factor in the power it makes.

no, its just a fast car... think about this: 2 terminator Cobras have went in the 9s stock blower to date, BOTH had ported blowers and NEITHER was stock weight

that should break this down... this car in 2 weeks did what only 2 Cobras have done in almost 10 years and under more restrictions than the Cobras... the next closest Cobra on the stock blower? 10.40s

as far as the GT500... they better be bringing a Kenne Bell if they want to have a shot at 9s... and they struggle

we've heard for years that LS based engines aren't boost friendly... well, its time for the Blue Oval bandwagoners to start eating some crow

they claim that the new GT500 has a revamped suspension and can actually launch now... all eyes are on them

I mean you say "oh its 700whp"... and? it cost $55,000, has pretty simple mods when you break it down, heads/cam and bolt-ons... and made 700whp... its now how much power it made, its how easily it got there

common sense tells me with upgraded axles, an upgraded differential, a built transmission, some stronger internals, a whipple, and some spray this car would be in the 8s with all the built out the *** Cobras... but that isn't what this car tried to show... it set out to show just how far the stock blower, stock transmission(with a tune and stall), stock suspension, and stock bottom end could go... and we know it'll get you in the 9s

these new 5th gens move out... the Copo is a prime example... day 2 of testing it went 9.51... we had to hear "oh, Cobra Jets have went in the 8s"... sure they had, with 2 power adders meeting no actual NHRA guidelines... the Copo went 9.51 the 2nd day of testing UNDER Stock Eliminator rules... the current world record is 9.37 @144.95 set by a Cobra Jet... in other words, 2 days of track time and test and the car was within 2 1/10ths of a new World Record... you don't think THAT sent a message?

Are you honestly going to tell me the COPO represents an actual 5th gen?? That car has a straight axle and a powerglide plus I get it weighs 500 lbs. less. It's a factory race car with a camaro body. You can't get either engine option in a production based Camaro where you can with the GT500. I'm one of the biggest GM nutswingers around and I swung hard off the 5th gen. I pushed a bolt-on LS3 pretty damn far until I realized it was an up hill battle. I already said this ZL1 is impressive but I'm still yet to see a near stock one do anything great and when you take into account the amount of power it takes to move this car I'm disgusted that GM couldn't engineer a legitimate pony car and pimp slap Ford again. BTW, a bolt-on Z06 has run 9's.

I honestly haven't seen hardly any times being posted... right now 11.80s with DRs only is the fastest... but I'll be willing to bet when more of these get in people hands, people start hitting 11s in factory trim... even the fat *** 5th gen SS can be taken to mid 12s bone stock in the right hands... faster than any stock LS1 ever went and who cares how much "power it takes to move it"... do you realize how little it took to get that power? I would say Gt500 owners are sitting back, scratching their head and saying..."do we really want to get into a mod war with that?" because right now this Zl1 is about a second faster than one of those damn things EVER went on the stock blower... weight mods brought into the damn equation

and I wasn't saying the Copo represents the 5th gen, but it IS still the same chassis... that was just another example of how everyone wants to get on this "5th gen is fail" mentality without opening their eyes and realizing the damn truth:

the 5th gen Camaro SS will put down around 400whp bolt-on only
the 5th Gen Copo is going to more than be competition for the Cobra Jet and Drag Pack Challenger
the fat *** SS can run 11s bolt-on only
the ZL1 will hit 11s stock
stock blower it decimated almost every standing stock blower record the terminators laid down

everyone throws this whole weight thing up in the air, but who cares if you are making more power? it balances out

could you put the LSA in a 4th gen with its live axle, less weight and it be faster? yes, you could... and that'd make an awesome strip warrior... but for those of us who have to drive it everyday... i'll take the comfort and features of the 5th gen... you can keep the tupperware interior and that horrid ride compliments of that live axle

and I love the LS1 cars, my brother still owns one in fact... in their time, they were my fav. cars on the road... for a person who is looking for a straight up fast car, they are still probably the best platform to mod dollar for dollar... now.. a daily driver? they're kind of dated... he doesn't daily drive his, he owns a truck... has his Trans Am as his weekend warrior, which suits it well...

and I guess these last few comments have come off as defensive... I really don't mean for them to be... I just can't seem to grasp why other GM platform owners seem to want to always put the 5th gen down at every given moment... I mean its amazing how much of a higher quality a 2010 camaro SS is to even a 2006 GTO, it may only be 5 years of timeline, but it seems like leap years...

the ZL1 while its impressive in 0-60 and all that, isn't so much of a pure out straight line runner as previous Camaros have been... when you buy it... you get the WHOLE package

I mean you get a mild-to-wild electronic box for the exhaust from the factory, it handles extremely well, look up some of its times around various circuits and the cars its in line with... good luck finding one close to it under $85,000 not named C6 Zo6 and that is compliments of the magnetic ride suspension which once again, good luck finding in a car under $60,000... and then you get a car that in factory trim can run 11s in the 1/4... being as how people seem to love to mod GM performance cars, the future looks bright for it in that regard as well... as far as the look of the car, I think its a great looking car... I like the look of the SS as well but the ZL1 is just in a whole other league, they really pulled it off well...

overall, I think GM did just fine with it... every review it seems to be getting is very positive of it... a lot of people who drive C6 Zo6s, Cadillac CTSVs, even the ZR1s on a regular basis has said this is the car GM ran in stride with

I guess because it didn't come with a pack of Marlboros in the console from the factory, some people will just never be big on it

but news flash, the day of the live axle are long gone
