L99 Cam Recommendations
I have a 2015 L99 Camaro and I plan on changing the cam and would like some "real world" input. The cars current mods are Ebay CAI, Magnaflow axleback, center resonator removal & Pat G. tune. If all goes well this week I will have long tube headers and HFC installed also. Currently w/o the headers, and at full weight 4015 lbs, the car has only run 12.92 @ 109.62 and I had hoped for better. I have already conversed with different vendors, but no "real world owners" of L99's that have had cam changes. While dyno numbers are good to have, I'd prefer drag strip results over them, so that being said I'd like to know if guys have done a "full" LS3 cam change on their L99 and if so, what did you actually change and what performance did you get (remember we are only talking automatics here)? I am not majorly concerned about changing the lifters for an LS3 conversion, and if/when a cam gets done (after the 3200 converter goes in) pushrods, springs and the OE heads are "pocket ported" will be done with the cam change. The 3 choices that I've been told about so far from vendors include...AFM cam, VVT cam (both using a phaser) or an LS3 cam conversion. I'd like to know from people that have done cam swaps on L99's what they'd suggest, and if they did it again, would they do the same.

Feel free to give us a call... we aren't too far and can definite get you set up! We have a package that works great with the L99's. A customer of ours recently went 11.1 @ 122mph with our heads/cam/stall package in their 2011 Camaro SS.
Let us know how we can do to help!

I have GPI VVT SS1 on Cam Motions core, stock converter, GPI ported and Polished heads, AFM/DOD delete, installed LSA Supercharger Conversion (stock pullies) -- great Idle, lots of power (Soon to be 600+ RWHP)... Still working on suspension -- mine is gear more toward road than drag racing. 62nalide and Pro Stock John drag theirs and really move! I believe John is now in the 10's!

I almost forgot. I did have a stock rocker arm go out on me at 48k miles, I'm assuming due to stock bearing failure. I ended up upgrading to the BTR trunion kit at that time in addition to replacing all my valve springs (Livernois kit) just for good measure. I don't believe the original owner (I am owner 3) had the rocker arm bearing upgrade from you guys originally. Something for the L99 guys to be aware of at least in my experience.
Though we do drop the cycle life from 100K down to 50K on those parts.
Some guys have had failures of rockers and lifters in the LS world.
Those parts don't go from a tick to failure in seconds. When it doesn't sound right take it apart and take a peak fix what's broken before it sends debris everywhere.
we are testing some different trunion/bearing upgrades for these though not required our camshaft packages do not exceed the travel on the o.e. bearing.

We like to use the o.e. rockers and lifters in these engines for durability.
