Default Strange clunking noise in the front end.?

Folks, my wife has the 2010 RS V6. Not long ago while riding shotgun I noticed a strange clunking noise up front when backing out of the driveway or small bumps in the road. Now she is hearing it so finally it is worth looking into. I have seen a few threads from people with the same problem. Here is a picture of the strut tower and the rubber collar that looks like it was once flush to the tower frame but as you can see it looks to have separated almost a half inch. Is this supposed to be like this? I just noticed it tonight so I have not had a chance to stop another owner on the street to ask if I could look under the hood. Both struts are raised the same.

Yes, that is normal. Is your wifes car out of warranty?

Maybe these will help shed some light on what could be making the noise.....

Default Not out of Warranty yet.

I am pretty sure we have time to fix this under warranty. Thanks for clearing up the matter of those rubber tower bumpers. What look wrong with them was the black smudge ring on the red paint from where it looked like it lifted from.

Default The dealer has it now.

Well, I drpped the car off this morning at 0800. I finally got a call back this evening and they said they wanted to keep it for another day. They did verify the gripe. I was not sure of the mileage and the warranty so I asked and they laughed and said 35,789. Just in time, and to think we almost did not take in due to our schedules. I will post the end findings later...

Cool, I'm interested to hear what they find.

Default Problem Not Found

Well, the folks at Coggin Chevrolet at the Avenues called my wife and said "you can come pick up your very fine high performance sport car" and there was nothing wrong with it. Looks like I am going to take half day off work and ask what possessed them to keep it for 2 full days only to say they could not find anything. I actually think they diagnosed it from there online chevy technical manual. The mileage in was 35799 and the mileage out was 35799 so they did not drive anywhere. It is getting harder to stay loyal to Chevy and there new vehicles. I also have the 2007 1500 SLT Crew Cab. If you own one you probably already have the notorius 2-3 cracks in the dash. I wish I had my 2004 that I traded for this one instead.

Well that sucks! It really shouldn't be that difficult to get good service...but it seems like it's becoming more commonplace.
