Default 140+mph floating issues

Guys. I bought a 2010 2SS. It had eibach lowering coil springs installed by the p.o. looks great. My issue with this is, that when I get to around 140+ mph the car lifts. I mean you can physically feel the car lift up, and float. The steering gets extremely touchy, and the pucker factor goes through the roof. Is this a normal occurrence? I've had several vehicles that would achieve higher speeds than 140 and not lift the way this one does. I'm assuming that it's due to the coil spring lowering kit. Thoughts?

Your car needs front & rear down force!

Not going 140+ isn't an option. The R/T Charger that I gave to my mom as a gift does 160 no prob. I can't have her in a faster car. LOL. I am considering getting rid of the Eibach Lowering springs and going with Pedders Coil overs, or Pfad. That jazz is pricy though. But if it will help me achieve my goal.. I guess it's worth it in the end. Also, a front air splitter. I just didn't know if achieving lift was due to the lowering springs that the P.O. put on the car, or if anyone else had this issue with theirs, stock suspension, or aftermarket upgrades.

Get an alignment. You shouldn't have these issues.

All wheel alignment? Or just the front? The car drives fine, and all the tires are wearing evenly. Would being out of alignment just a tiny bit cause this?

I'd say replace the factory shocks, but the only problem with that is nobody offers just the performance struts and shocks for the 2010-13 Camaro.

So I'd go with either the Peddlers Camaro 160086 Xa Coilovers ($1763).

Now if you're trying to keep the cost down then look at the H & R Street-Performance Coil-Over kit 50779-2 (2012-13) and 50779 (2010-11) for $1080 which is ride height adjustable and has shocks/struts that are valved for their springs, but the valving isn't adjustable. Tire Rack has them.

You also have the ST suspension coilovers 90617 made by KW which have fixed shock/strut valving for about $1072 for the 2010-11, also at the tire Rack along with ColoradoSpeed for $945

Okay correction Koni does offer the STR.T struts and shocks for the 2010-11 Camaro. Tire Rack has them for about $510, but I'm sure Strano can also get them for you.

That's some handy info to have. Thanks bro! I'm gonna get the alignment done and see if that helps. If not. Definitely gonna see about upgrading the struts and shocks. Thanks again for the links. They're probably going to come in handy in the future when some extra funds become available :-)

Got the alignment done today. It was out in the front pretty bad. One of the bolts was about to fall out of the drivers side coil over. I will be checking it out here as soon as I can get a break in the weather. It's pretty wet here right now. The guy at the shop said that another few bumps in the road and the bolt would probably be gone forever. Seems to have tightened up the steering quite a bit from when I first got the car.

Told you so. One of the best things about aligning the car is the alignment tech is going to put hands and eyes on every important nut and bolt.

A vented hood would also help with reducing front-end lift at higher triple digit speeds. That's part of the reason why the 2014 SS now comes with a vented hood. You could also consider a set of HEX vents on your factory hood.

the alignment things kinda scary, but shocks and springs are a big help too.
had the same issue with my stock 98 trans am shocks and springs. got up to about 120 (this is in Germany mind you lol) and the car started to float. started to realy get loose at 130 and scare the crap out of me.
Installed Koni SA's and Vogland 1.25" lowering springs and never had that issue again.
