Wonder if it was from a dig or a rolling start?

It is a 4000 lb beast on 20" "DUBs" No car that weighs that much and has wheels as heavy as that is going to do very well in a handling aspect. Sure you can make up for its sluggish acceleration with a large displacement motor but seriously... who ever wanted 20'' wheels on a pony car???

I love how someone on that site posted that the Cobalt SS pulled a 8.22 and said it costs half the price of the SS. Complete tool. $24k vs $31k. Yep, that definently looks like double to me.

I hate people.

8:19 is pretty impressive for the Camaro. Here is a list of cars that posted slower times at the ring. I would say the Camaro is in some pretty good company.

I don't buy my cars based on 'Ring times, so it doesn't bother me. Bet our beloved 4th gens probably run slower times and we still love them.

I just want to say that the most impressive car on this list that it beat is the Lotus. The Exige is a 2057 lb track beast that goes 0-62 in 4.1 seconds. The others that raise an eyebrow from me are the Cayman S, and I laugh that both the Camaro and the Cobalt outran the 350Z, in its element.

The funniest thing that if you check out the lap times posted to this wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordsch...epublic.com-19

The GT-R has three lap times listed, and only the one that Nissan ran pulls the uber 7:29 spec. Porsche tested it on stock wheels, and so did driver's republic, and both of them pulled a 7:54/7:55 respectively. Granted even a 7:55 is freakin scooting around the ring, but 7:29 is enzo territory. And the last time I checked a 3000 lb car with 650 horsepower will outrun a 3850 lb car with 480 by more than .04 seconds.

They do. With suspension and some mild mods one could run it in 8:30...but I wish it were a tad lighter...I want to Auto X it...not drag it.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/gm-camar...ng-in-819.html

"Though we can’t publish our driving impressions of the reborn Chevrolet Camaro SS until Friday at 6 pm Eastern - check back then! - we did learn today from General Motors that what the automaker calls an “80 percent” prototype of the neo-muscle car lapped Germany’s Nürburgring in a reasonable 8:19.

That figure puts it about three seconds ahead of the Cobalt SS (and, not surprisingly, way behind the Corvette ZR1) though that test is official and was done with a production vehicle. GM figures the production Camaro SS will easily shave a few seconds off of that time.

GM says it sent a prototype Camaro SS around the track last year when the automaker was doing development work on the Pontiac G8 GXP.

The automaker didn’t say who was behind the wheel during the unofficial attempt. "

i got that from camaro5.

I wonder what it does in regular tracks more.

It is impressive though.
