Which car?

Which car?
Until everything else is revealed for 2010 model line up from all the companies I've got it narrowed down to two cars. 2010 Camaro SS1 M6 or Audi A5 M6. The Audi has a few advantages that I really like: AWD, Nav, and it is much better looking inside and out. I'm sure you all know the advantages that the camaro have: power and price. Here is the real kicker though, I'll be driving it year round in northern NY which means through ice, snow and mountains. I would definately be putting snow tires on the Camaro if I went that direction. I also have a 78 Caprice coupe with a forged 355 that will soon be getting a blower, so absolute power isn't really what I'm looking for since I already have a fast toy. More looking for something refined, comfortable, plenty of passing power (which both have) and reliability. What do you all think?

Well I already think VW's are overpriced, but the A5 is about the sexiest car out that I've seen in my price range and has the huge bonus of AWD, why GM is way behind on the AWD trend is beyond me. I've always found subarus to be quite unatractive, if the next line-up comes with something more stylish I wouldn't be apposed to a WRX. Now if they started making the Tesla Model S two years early then I'd be all over getting one of those.

I've not seen any crossovers that have a pricetag that matches the options and power they come equipped with, that and most of them aren't very stylish. I am open to suggestions but they would have to be 0-60 under 6, manual, AWD and have a nice exhaust note. The Camaro is a choice because it is worlds above any of the other RWD cars in cost, power and styling.

Strange people cross shopping higher priced imports and the new Camaro SS. Traditionally, it's Mustang and now Challenger. Personally, I would keep a car like the Camaro for years and mod it accordingly after it went out of Warrantee. Cars like the Audi, I would sell before the warrantee expired due to high maintenance cost of a German car. Thats the reason you don't see any old Audis on the road.

I don't even consider Mustangs or anything dodge as an option. Other Fords might be okay with their new ecoboost program laying down some nice power numbers and fair MPG, it's too bad none of the sub $40k ones won't be out at the time I'll be buying. I'm starting to think that I'm really just stuck on how amazing the Audi looks and the fact that it has AWD vs all of the cons to owning one.

If it is going to be a DD, I would go with Audi.
If you have mod plans in the future or want a street/strip car go with the camaro.
These cars are essentially apples and oranges. It really just comes down to what you want and where you are in life.

Oh believe me, I've looked into that. Two problems, I'd be destroying a rare classic in the rust belt and they are waaay out of warranty (the whole point in buying a new car). Plus, they're automatics.

The stuff I looked at online said 5.8-5.9 with the S5 at a 4.5, but the mags are never really that acurate anyways. Also keep in mind that the german mags might be talking about the german engines that aren't offered in the US (4-cyl and diesel).

I think you answered your own question in your first post.
You live in NY. It's definitely going to snow in the winter. You have a NICE toy it sounds like.
Do yourself a favor and get the Audi. Audi's are great cars and you will be more/feel more secure in an AWD car than a RWD car.
GOOD LUCK!!

Go with the A5 because of where you live, you will not regret it with the Quattro. If the A5 comes with performance tires plan on getting some all-season tires otherwise you will regret it even with 4wd. The wifes car is an 02 A6 with the 4.2 V8, 300hp all wheel drive 64k miles and still rides like new after putting installing new tires. I like the looks of the A5 and the inside layout as well. I like the look of the new camaro, although not a big fan of the front end but would prefer a SRT8 or Shelby if price was not an option. Its the speedo and tach gauges on the new camaro that I cant get past (fire the designer). They should have just carried over the whole GTO dash and provided a product to market at a lower cost. Either way, good luck in your decision.

Yeah I understand the whole import thing but if there were any decent American AWD cars out there with a manual trans I'd be all over it. Sounds like the Audi is the clear winner so far. Guess I'll stick to that unless they come out with something better for 2010 or very early release 2011 car. Thanks for all the input and if anyone has something new to add that we've missed please throw in your two cents.
