Default 2010 Camaro 427 swap??

Oh well I really wasn't going to get one, but somebody is getting a loan approved for my Challenger R/T. I have a 427 shortblock and ported LS3 heads I was going to use for a T/A track car. But as the opportunity is coming up I am starting to think about getting a 2010 Camaro with the Auto and dropping my 427 in it. Anyone know if the AFM and VVT can be completely eliminated during tuning? Or what I would need to know to get this to work. If so I just might drive up to DFW or Houston and pick one up and begin to tear it apart. Also will a converter I am currently using on my 08 Vette work in the Camaro. I expect it to be the same setup..

i would put the 427 in the trans am. with the trans am being so much lighter it will be a lot easier and you will have a better chance for you 10sec goal. congrats on the new challenger.

+1 for sticking with the 4th gen. I believe that auto isn't rated to handle too much power yet. That's why you do not get an LS3 in the auto 2010 Camaros. Crappy for sure.

They are putting the LS3/A6 in the G8 GXP so the tranny can hold a decent amount of power. GM was trying to keep people from having to pay gas guzzler tax so they went with the AFM. GM couldn't get the AFM to work smooth enough to use it in the M6, which is why the LS3 is only available with the M6. If you already have the Firebird I would say stick with it. Unless you are trying to be the first 5th gen in the 10's.

Why do you want to drop a new engine in a brand new 2010 camaro?

Sounds expensive, but a neat project.

you could drop it in and sell the new motor.. If you are trying to go for 10s then hell ya go for it.. be the first or one of the first few. GOOD LUCK but if you are doing it for GP then put it in the TA. Keep us posted or hell atleast me. I want to know what happens.
