2010 V6 Camaro vs LS1 camaro
So do you guys think the new V6 camaro will run close to the numbers of the old LS1 cars in the 1/4 mile. The new V6 has 304 HP, and the LS1 i think was around 320....sounds pretty close...anyone run one of the new v6's at the track?
Just thought I would spark a debate

V6 is actually putting out around 260 or so to the wheels. Torque is what makes up for the whole thing.
Many races are decided within the first 60' and if you are near the same peak output as your opponent, both equally capable drivers and you are lacking the torque that they may have, you're pretty much getting a good view of their taillights.

LS1 Fbodies made 345hp/375ft.lbs in a ~3500lbs car, the new Camaro has 304hp/273ft.lbs in a 3800lbs car, you can do the math...

Just ran my g/f's 2010 Camaro V6 and it went 14.9@94mph with a 2.2 60ft. IIRC it was finishing the 1/4mile in (mid)3rd gear and pulling pretty hard. On the way back we raced a 96 Mustang GT and an 01 GT, both races we pulled ahead a few cars; the 01 GT was harder to shake off though.
No way this heavy V6 will pull on an LT1 much less an LS1; maybe with a CAI and some tuning it can hang with LT1's.

It was a stock GT with 3 200lbs passengers LOL!!!! Yes I know doesnt make sense, I thought he'd put at least 2 cars on me but IDK. Could have been a bad driver, it was a 5-speed and had some gangsta 20's on there.

We have a shitty track in clarksville TN and last friday my buddy took his rental up there and with about 200miles on it went 9.7. not sure the mph since its a shitty track.. but to give ya an idea of how it does our other buddy was there and has an 03 mustang GT, headers/intake and the camaro walked away from him on the track and the street. From a roll or a dig the GT stayed with it till about the top of 2nd then the camaro would pull away...
To give you an idea of how shitty the track is our rental LS3 C6 would only run a best of 7.8...

just as a comparison, back in the day, my '94 Z28 ran a 14.1@96 bone stock and 13.9@99 with an intake and catback, with a 3.23 auto, rated at 275/325... and LS1's made 305-310/335-340 in an F body...

Hot Rod ran a 14 flat in a new V6, this thing is a good race for LT1s and PI 2V GTs. Honestly who cares about the V6, if you're on this website your a car enthusiast and if you buy a V6 "pony/muscle" car you're probably gay.

I can't wait to see what the aftermarket for this car is like...plenty major companies are really interested in modding the V6. It without a doubt will be a big seller and plenty of people will want to mod it.

You're a tool.
Edit: besides, you should probably bring more than just a c5 on juice if you're going to start the **** talking.
