Since I am an LS3 person all the way, I would have to say I wouldn't have the L99 for the fact that it would be more difficult to modify. Money may not be an issue for some. I know someone out there could maybe tune the car after removing all of the AFM and make the tranny communicate correctly, but not around here. Give me the straight shift.

If you are talking about actually breaking in the car when you get it, just follow the manual and do what it recomends. There are too many different opinions online. There is gonna be one guy telling you to drive under 3000rpm then the next guys telling you to do a burnout leaving the lot.

from what i understand ls motors are best to beat on from a start because of the high tolerances of the motors compared to the older motors.

To save the clutch and break in the tranny/engine, wind out the gears to redline (mid throttle) then decel back down to low rpm, do this alot in whatever gears you can within the first 20 miles.

Every LS-based car that I know of around my area, as well as ones i've tuned all run alot harder when they are beat on more often.. not sure why, but it's true.

I started beating on my motor right from the get go. It doesnt burn much oil at all and runs very strong.

Beat on it & change the oil regularly, 500 miles like after beating on it, then @ 1500, after that I usually change @ 3000 intervals. My car gets ridden hard & is always at the track.
