Default L99 with VVT ?'s

I got a buddy with a A6 2013 L99.

What's this I'm seeing about a VVT can swap? He has been itching to get more power to have fun with me in my boss. He dynoed 356whp 364wtq with a airaid intake and a dyno tune from 21st century muscle cars in Addison, tx.

He did a best of 13.4 @ 107 with crap traction on stock street tires.

What can he do to really open the L99 motor?

Contact Rhino79 here on the forum. He has a lot of experience with the VVT setup.
Add headers, and a good Circle D converter. Some have ran deep in the 11's and faster.

My BIGGEST advise is sell that intake and stop going to 21st century!!!!!

I live in Dallas and when my L99 was 100% stock it ran 13.0 at 106, with a New Era intake, headers converter and a VVT tune from Rhino79 I went 11.90s at 114.8 and with H/C I've been touching 10s for over a year now. I just went 10.73 at 127.03 mph spinning this weekend!!!!

Problem is no one in Dallas tunes VVT

Nice! Do the 13' L99s come with VVT or is that a cam swap? Also what's wrong with the airaid intake? You hear had things about 21st century?

Kinda hard to explain but these cars like straight flow intakes not bent ones, all auto cars are VVT. Yes I see a lot of cars come out of 21st century that can't even touch bolt on times plus they can't tune 6L80Es right.

Well with the right parts and TUNER you can turn it into a beast.

I've been keeping track of my results with various mods:

13.1@106 1.95 bone stock
12.7@110 1.92 headers, cats, air box, underdrive, tune, stock tires
12.3@112 1.85 + 20" drag radials
12.0@112 1.70 + 18" drag radials, and 3200 stall
11.9@113 1.60 + 17x7 fronts, 3.91 gear (best mph after gear is 115)
11.8@113 1.59 - all seats

Just did heads and cam, and swapped out my Circle D 3200 for a CD 3800. Time to join Martin (62Nalide) in the 10s (I hope).

How did those gears work out? Think those are a wise investment?

Also is that intake really gonna make that much difference over his current intake?

Any advantage going catless vs high flow cats on these cars?

What's the best sounding exhaust without spending 1k+

Any local tuners you recommend in the DFW area?

A NewEra OTR intake is a major improvement over his current one. 3.91 gears will move that heavy car down quicker but traction will be an issue. I have a set of 3.45 gears that will be an improvement over his current 3.27 gears he has now. Best exhaust will be cat less headers with stock mufflers.
I don't recommend ANY DFW tuner to tune the VVT on it. If he wants to go with a DFW tuner he can kiss that VVT thing good bye. You can have him reach out to me and I can give him some tips and ideas.
