Default LT1 vs LS1 what makes them have different hp?

I know the differances pros and cons wise between the LT1 and LS1 but what actually makes the LS1 more hp stock vs stock? or mod vs mod? What makes the LS1 respond better to lts vs a lts on LT1? I have read the billion posts about the LS1 being far more superior but thats all the post are about.

Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks!

heads, intake manifold... that is where the power is. they also have a far better ignition setup.

lt1s dont have all the options for aftermarket intakes like the ls1 does. so the holds some power back. and just the overall design of the lt1s cylinder head causes restrictions compared to a ls1 head there fore the ls1 will respond to mods better

Most of what makes the LS1 better than the LT1 is head design. The heads flow much better plus LS1 don't have the dreaded opti spark.

The LT5 and the LS1 are pretty much the same Bore X Stroke, the LS1 just has a hell of alot better Heads/Intake.

The opti spark is a total nightmare, and expensive even if you do it yourself. Most shops want $800 plus for a tune up.

As far output goes, I'd blame it on the heads and intake. You'll find an LT4, for example, puts down numbers right in line with your average LS1.

Their heads flow similar numbers, which are significantly better than what you'll see with an LT1. Consider it like comparing an LS1 and LS6.
