With the ss in the garage for the winter I totally forgot to get my SFCs welded up before I put it away. I am just curious how much welding shops usally charge to weld them?

That sounds about right. I bolted on a set of 3 pt SFCs this summer. Didnt really want to weld them, but now if I want to raise the car on a hoist I have to jack up the front end first a lil. Thats because the front hoist arms hit the bolt heads for the SFCs. I heard welding them makes them not flex as much. Its in storage until April or May now so wait til then.

$50 dollars!!? seems a little high. If i had a wire welder i'd be done in 5 minutes.

i've personally witnessed some shops that charge 10-15$ per weld... not sure what they charge in your area, though...

Depends on what they do. If they are grinding of paint and crud to make sure they have clean surfaces to weld to it could take some time (money). I weld so mine was free but I also stitched the entire length to the pinch weld along with additional fab work to push it further against the flloor pan. If I paid it would have been hundreds.

$50 seems about right if not a little low. None of you have ever worked in welding/fabrication/custom car business before right? Thats why you think its 5 mins and bam its done.

If you consider the time to rack the car and raise it up, layout the sfc to the car and see where it needs to be cleaned up, clean and prep the area to be welded on both the car and the sfc, put the sfcs on the car and make sure they are installed properly, weld them on, clean up the welds if needed, the paint over any bare metal. That could easily take more than an hour.

Do you understand now why $50 isn't that bad?
