Understandable - there have been times where I've avoided a vehicle purchase based on gut instinct alone.

Steve, if you find an SS around here and are unsure of its original factory parts, confirmation as to whether it's a true SS model, SLP options, exhaust systems, engine modifications, documentation, et cetera, send me a PM and I can come look if you need me to. I'm not the end-all-be-all expert, but I've taken some time to learn the basics of how these cars left the factory and such. I'm just north of Albany.

If you are referring to dual/dual vs CME, then yes you are correct.

If you are referring to a Z28 vs an SS (base, non-SLP) muffler, then you are incorrect. As I've stated, I have both in my possesion and there are different part numbers/markings on the mufflers, and the SS/WS6 muffer has 2.5" outlets where the Z28 has 2.25" outlets.

The point I was trying to make is that not just the 01 and 02 years had such exhaust as previously posted.

If you bought the car used someone might have swapped that exhaust on. My 01 SS had the paperwork for the dual/dual SLP exhaust and the first owner, the one before me, had swapped it to a magnaflow because the SLP was "too loud." Your car could have my cars' stock exhaust on it.....bastage. lol.

My 02 SS had the center exit SLP exhaust from the factory. I liked the look a lot, but this guy rear ended me. At the body shop, they told me that they dont make that exhaust anymore and they would have to put the regular exhaust on there. Was that true or were they just lazy?

110% wrong.

My car is a 01. It was the 345hp package, along with the CME exhaust, SLP chrome 10 spokes etc...The same packages were given in 01 for the 02 cars as well.

Then your car is an 02'. The Blackwing and CME were only on 2002's, and your SS number 10997 shows your car is not an 01, only 6,xxx SS's made in 01.

...and like I mentioned already your SS build number 10997 proves your car is not an 01. Only 6,332 were made in 2001. It may have been built in late 2001 and then sold as a 2002 car.

Good looking car!

...so you bought it used with no Blackwing. You mentioned that you have the title in hand? Scan it and post it, edit out vin# and personal info so we can see it's a 2001.

If your car is a 2001 SS then your build number 10997 is incorrect and your car never had a Blackwing. And your SS is the 335hp option, not the 345hp option only in 2002.

So the day you brought it home, it already had a holley and bmr sticker, you already had a tag, and they refused to detail under the hood?
