Default LS2 swap in my 2000 trans am

Hey guys was just wondering what will be needed to put in and get running a 05 GTO motor n auto trans in my car. I have a 2000 WS6 Trans Am with 155000 miles on going to need transmission. So I was thinking of buying engine and trans from an 05 or 06 GTO with low miles and swap it in. I just need to know how hard and what I need to get it going. Ur input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well if you get a whole motor all you need is harness extentions for the cam position sensor, knock sensors and a timing chain cover... TSP and Lingenfelter sells these among others...

The really big deal is the reluctor. Early LS2's have 24x reluctor wheel which is a drop in but the later ones are 58x and require pulling the crank and installing a 24x or buying a Lingenfelter conversion box...

There are a few things here and there, but nothing too major. Wiring is the biggest part IMO, thats where people either pay $$$ for a premade harness and tune or take the time and do it themselves..

There is some work involved. So don't think it will just be a "bolt in", lol..

Not to hijack -

but what are you guys willing to pay for a used LS2?

There is only one local LS2 for sale and I am trying to figure out what they are worth..

Yep for me and if do the LQ4/9 it is a gen III so you don't need to do the sensor extensions/TC cover swap so it is even simpler....
