Default AC Delco going with E-Core filters?

Specifically the PF61 and PF61E.

I know AC Delco has e core oil filters out there, like at wal mart, etc. But I've found an Autozone that has a steady supply of the old style. They don't have any e cores in any size.

Is this going to be another case of stock up with the good ones while you can until they're gone?

BTW I have used Mobil 1 filters, I've cut both brands open and I don't see a big enough difference to spend 3 times more for the Mobil 1, they're near identical.

And the AC Delco e core looks identical to the SuperTech (which is almost half the price).

I'm going to use the old style as long as they're available.
Any opinions?

I've ran the old style for quite a while on both my truck and my SS, and have always used a Mobil 1 on the WS6. When they started carrying the new Delco filters at WalMart I transitioned to them. I quickly noticed that I was running less oil pressure on both vehicles with the new filters so I have started using Wix filters...back to normal. Seems like all the parts stores around me are carrying the "e" filters now. I did not cut open a new filter to check it out.

Check out the following thread...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...edesigned.html

The info in there convinced me to switch to WIX Filters.

I still find a "Old Style" PF46 every-now-and-again and snap it up when I can, but they seem to be getting more and more rare.

Smile O'reillys

At O'reillys Auto parts near my house they only stock the Non-Ecore Ac Delco Filters and there under $4.50 a filter.

I also use Wix oil filters. I switched to the Wix filters a few years ago and have a nice supply of them in my garage. I see I'm not the only one.
