Default Troubleshooting help needed- hot start problems

I've been having hot start problems for years on this car, nothing I do seems to help. Now, after second new starter it seems to be getting worse, certainly no better.

Car is a 08 Pontiac G8, stripped down for drag racing use. What happens is that once it gets hot it just won't start. You get a single 'click' per key turn. Only time will make it work. Once it starts it runs great.

Starter has been replaced twice, battery 3 times, starter relay once. I have a brand new top quality battery jump box, attaching it does not help. Battery voltage shows good, I keep a battery maintainer/charger on it during the week. Wiring to the starter appears ok. I keep a blower fan on the engine between rounds but it still does it.

Anyone have any ideas, no matter how off the wall? Getting desperate here, afraid to shut the car off in the staging lanes at this point.

Classic symptoms of a bad fuel pressure regulator. That's where I would start looking first...

That would cause it to crank but not start, it won't crank. Its electrical I think.

Voltmeter time. Start at the starter, clip right across
the case & power lead. What does this drop to when
you try and crank? At the battery? etc. You can narrow
down the point(s) of voltage drop methodically.

Don't neglect the ground side of things, ground rise
is as bad as BAT drop. Maybe when hot you have a
looser stud somewhere,

Gonna try running a new ground first as its basically impossible to access the starter connections without pulling the starter. If the ground doesn't work I'll have to start as you say.

Had this problem on a 68 Camaro I had. I ended up putting a remote solenoid on the fenderwell, that way the heat does not affect it. I am not sure if that is ur problem or not, but it worked for me.

I heard something about this. requires a certain Ford solenoid I think?

correct. go buy a ford starter solenoid. just use a 72 ford pickup for reference so you wont get questions from the parts store tards. google the correct wiring and your good. I did this with my nova and it worked great.

pretty sure my starter only has 2 wires though, a big one and a smaller one.
