I found that both my LS1 starter bolt threads were stripped from the previous owner while changing out my starter (now I see why I had grinding issues). I'm thinking that drilling and tapping or helicoil are my only options, but can it be done with the engine still in the car? Any other suggestions?

.. first id like to say. HOW>> dang someone use a air gun to install.. secondly hand start them damn..

you may depending on the space hei-coil them.. be very tough in the location.. are you able to rethread them at all? loctite anyone for emergency only?

I can't rethread at all. Looks like I will be doing a Time-sert as threads are all messed up. They may have used an air gun and stripped it.
