Default Urgent! What bolt is this

A bolt fell out of my car driving today. It is roughly 3 1/2 to 4 inches long. It has about an inch of thread and the rest is smooth. I was told it iis a stretch bolt. The head says 9.8 on it. Could this be a head bolt? My heads were recently off and new bolts were used to put them back on. The head of the bolt looks about the same size of the ones that werre put on the heads...

It might be a head bolt.. maybe an old one that you just left laying there and forgot about it?

^^^ This is what I was thinking.

Not to sidetrack but do you have a photobucket or anything with your car Fury? It's so clean and color and Rim choice exactly what I want to get next.

Sounds like the Tensioner Bolt..or an Alternator Bolt.

If you have a Head Bolt fall out then you have some serious problems.

Head bolt couldn't fall out. Its vertical and fairly heavy. You'd have to turn the car upside down to lose one if they were just sitting in the hole and not tightened down. My guess is its your balancer bolt which is the largest pulley, under the water pump. The pulley goes on really tight and you usually have to heat the pulley in the oven just to get it to go on the snout, so it would stay on for a little while fairly well without the bolt. Also, that bolt is a torque to yield bolt, something like 150 ftlbs so chances are your shop didnt tighten it down enough when they reinstalled your pulley.

Well, for the most part, anything that screws into the block is pretty much a 15mm.... Looks like a head bolt to me
