Default 01 camaro not cranking unless scanners plugged in??

I just got a 01 z28 thats been sitting for about 4 years. Im not sure what was wrong with the motor that was in it but i swapped it out with a 6.0 i had built to solve all problems. lol

I was having a problem with the key not working half the time, but the times it would crank with the old key, it would run. So i had a new key made, and it turns over everytime now, it just wont crank unless the scanner is plugged into the obdII port?? Without the scanner plugged in, I have no fuel or spark. Plug the scanner in, fuel pump comes on and it fires up.... Its throwing NO codes, and the security light is NOT on.. Any input??

Then only thing i can think of is a V.A.T.S. issue, or i left a ground off somewhere and the scanner is completing a ground.. But wouldnt it burn the scanner up if that was the case?

It maybe a loose ground and not a ground that's completely off, which would make sense why plugging scanner works.

V.A.T.S. usually has a solid light or blinking light on the cluster.

I will go check the grounds again, but they all seemed to be tight.

It was a ground. Thanx and good call.
