Default Hood: drop or push?

ok guys, i've heard people say it's better both ways... is it better to lower and drop our fiberglass hoods or slowly lower the hood till it catches the first latch then push it down to catch the second? i thought pushing it would be better but a friend of mine swears it's better to just drop it and that pushing will cause it to crack. whatcha think?

I just drop mine, no cracks or anything yet. I could see where pushing it down can hurt the fiberglass. I know on a metal hood you don't want to push it down because you will dent the metal eventually, I just use the same logic for my fiberglass and I haven't had any issues.

I spent a long time aligning my hood and fenders, headlights, and using the bump stops. So I pull it down and push the middle until it latches.

I would say fiberglass is more prone to breaking being dropped from the sudden stop. it doesnt take much pressure to get them to latch so I always press it down.

I've had my camaro for 9 years and i let the hood drop. Never did think about the fiber class hood till now, but i think i will continue to let the hood drop since all is good.

yeah my 3 inch ss hood if i just drop it ,it would not latch anyway, i lower it and just give it a lil push, hood is really light , even if i slammed it down ,i dont think it would latch, i dont know why you would pay that much for a hood, paint n body, the time to get it straight ,and then just go slam the crap out of it lol,

Same deal with the Sunoco, don't think it would latch if I just dropped it, so I lower and push. The stock Z28 hood I used to let drop though.
