Default How long can I go without a tune?

In January I'm getting my long tube headers, cutout, muffler, and tips installed. How long can I go before I get it dyno tuned? Thanks

With just the mods you mentioned, it will probably throw the CEL but it really wouldn't hurt anything to run it that way long as it's not long term or you add more mods.

I went two years before I got mine. I also gained 20rwhp with a dyno tune, I just had a lid and full exhaust at the time. So your not going to be getting the full potential out of your setup, but it sure will sound good.

Can or should? You won't hurt anything without a tune, but you'll get a lot more out of your mods with one.

I never got mine tuned. It would make more sense to wait if your doing internals.

You won't know what your A/F ratios are without a tune. Most likely, it will run rich, which really won't hurt anything except gas mileage. But it won't be right till you get your A/F dialed in, and you're probably leaving power on the table.

Like everybody is saying, your check engine light is going to be on once you get everything installed, the car will most likely be running rich and you're going to be leaving some power on the table, however, it should be perfectly fine until you get it tuned.

Spend the $150 and send out your pcm to Frost for a mail order tune. It's really the best option for your current mods imo. Might as well enjoy the new power now while you save for future mods.

10,000 miles on my full exhaust setup and no issues. Check engine light is on because I removed the AIR system.

I did full exhaust, ported tb, ls6 intake, ssra, lid, and maf ends on my old 98 without a tune for a couple years. I never got a tune for that car. I ended up using the vince handheld tuner.
You could go probably forever without a tune although I wouldnt.
