5.3 vs 5.7

Default 5.3 vs 5.7

I have a 1931 Chevy Sedan that I am hot rodding. Just want a driver. I have a 5.3 vortec out of a 05 pickup with 799 heads and a 5.7 vortec out of a 01 camaro with 241 heads. Which would be better? What is the differance in the 241 heads and the 799 heads? Would it be better to put the 799 heads on the 5.7 vortec block? And which is a better intake? The camaro or the truck?

I would put the complete 5.7 in. 5.3 heads are only better after som CNC work from what I've read.They have smaller chambers and smaller valves.

the 5.7 should have the ls6 intake on it however the truck intake can hang
with it till 5500(stock cam). If you plan to cam it up then the ls6 manifold
will show results. Also the 5.7 being all aluminum will lighten the front end
allowing it to steer/handle better.

Thank you. The 5.3 that I have is an aluminum block as well.

I would also be interested in the aluminum 5.3 if you decide not to use it .

Put the 799 heads on the 5.7 with the 5.7's intake. the 799 heads are the same castings as the 243's that are on LS6's and LS2's there worth 15-20hp over the 241's, and 01 and newer LS1's came with LS6 intakes. Also don't call the LS1 out of the Camaro a vortech, it makes you sound like a total noob. Vortech's only came in trucks.

Probably one of them fancy corvette engines with the coil packs on the valve covers.
