cps swap. relearn a must?

cps swap. relearn a must? Hey guys, changed out my cps out today. Just wondering if the relearn is a must? Will the pcm automatically relearn timing? Or do you have to take it to someone with a tech 2 scanner to do the relearn on it? Just curious. replaced light went off ran great and then code came back a little while later. would it throw a P1336 if this needed to be done? Thanks for any input. car is 00 trans am formula m6 72k on it. thanks

I reset codes and light hasn't come back on again. car drives ok. So i think im good? I was just told by a friend of mine who works at a dealership that I HAVE to do a relearn on it.
