Default Reluctor on an 06

Hello all. Planning to pick up my LQ9 later today but I just realized that it may have a 58x reluctor! This would greatly complicate my build.

The thing is that I've heard conflicting information regarding this.

If anyone has DEFINITE information, please let me know.

The motor is an LQ9 from an 06 Yukon Denali.

Thanks!

If I recall, that was the bastard year. If it's a good deal, I say pick it up. Pull the pan and check. Worse comes to worst you have to get a converter box and a cam sensor extension harness.

I believe that as long as it is an actual LQ9, and not a gen IV motor, than it should be a 24x reluctor. All LQ4/LQ9 are GEN III motors which I am almost positive means they are all 24x reluctor (black crank sensor). The GEN IV, 58x reluctor, has a front mount cam sensor also, (gray crank sensors). I believe all 2006+ spec LS engines (LS2,LS3,LS7,L76,L92, etc) had the
58 x crankshaft reluctor wheels.

Good luck with the motor.

LQ9 is a 24x reluctor (Gen3), LY6 is a 58x reluctor(Gen4) LS series are not so straight forward depending on years.
