The bumper returned back to shape it is only noticeable if you knew it was there. That is one of the crappy things about no lift you have to just do it how you can. It took me about 3 hours but I already had the heads off from my inspection of finding a broken pushrod.

Paint was ok where I lifted it. The bumper cover clear coat has been messed up though ever since I got the car since it was a Colorado State patrol car so I didnt trip on it. Is the upper radiator support strong enough to lift the car like that? I thought the bumper would be stronger. If my car was cherry with a nice paint job I would have removed the bumper cover but its just more work for an already big job.

I understand your front bumper isn't in the best, but I would have removed it an used the rad support. It only takes 10 minutes to remove. I just recently did something similar to a 98' z28 I'm parting out. I raised the car by the rad support, sat the car on jack stands, and wheeled the entire front suspension, engine, harness, tranny, and wheels/tires out.

**** should got 12 ton jack stands. They are tall enough to pull the motor and trans out the bottom and you at least have ur car sitting on jack stands while its in the air. Lol different strokes for different fokes

I applaud your taking the engine out the bottom without a lift, but maybe try it this way next time and not mess up your bumper. There are two holes you can stick the straps through. one is in front of your battery box and the other is where the coolant overflow tank is, you have to remove the tank to do it but it's better than screwing up your bumper. Just stick the straps through those holes and loop them around the frame.

woa! i did it like ryle did it! works great. matter fact. after i got it in, from where i had it hooked up, i lifted the whole front end of the car with the engine and tranny with the cherry picker.
also-sweet looking garage floors. is it just VCT? how's it holding up? i see a few at the edge peeling up.

You know that the engine comes out from under the hood just fine if the radiator is out, headers are disconnected, intake manifold is off, crank pulley and drive belt accessories off. It may look like alot of work in words but its easy I can have my engine out of mine in under an hour

It also takes less than an hour dropping it from the bottom. It took me 30 mins without a lift by myself. As long as you have the right tools and know what your doing either way can be fast.
I just had no choice but to drop it out the bottom. The accident pushed the frame rails less than an 1" away from the AC Compressor. There was no way it had enough room to come out the top.
