500 mile road trip
Hey guys, I'm going to be driving my car all the way up to Toronto, Ontario and I was wondering what you guys do to make long road trips a bit more tolerable.

I drove my car home when I bought it from Texas to Chicago, 1100 miles. I had a friend with me which helped a lot. Going alone is going to suck. Don't be afraid to enjoy urself and by that I mean drop the t-tops / crank the music. Might suffer some MPG but i find it a lot more pleasing driving with the tops off, if the weather allows it. Also bring some music since you'll be going in and out of radio stations constantly. Stop often to eat and/or to relax. 500 miles straight is going to be boring. Vary speed, maybe even pick a race or 2... lol. Other then that there is nothing else you can do.

Check all your fluids etc....Yeah maybe dumb stuff but carry a little extra with ya... A tool box too with a few clamps, zip ties etc... with all wrenches and sockets usually don'y take up too much room. Having said that all my long trip from coastal NC to KY to Atlanta and OH have been flawless but I liked having this on board just in case... A good jack other than the above listed may be useful too...

I talked to a friend who lives in Ithaca, New York who will let me crash for the weekend before I continue on trek. I'll more than likely bring a couple of quarts of oil with me just because. I may pick up a small socket set from Pep Boys and a couple of wrenches for that extra measure.

I have Rhaphosdy on my I-phone, unlimited streaming music to wherever you can get a cell phone signal. Hook that up to my car and just jam out for 500 miles. They have MOST of my favorite metal bands, and I bring a few CD's for the ones they don't have(Pantera is severely lacking on Rhaphosdy)

But OP defintly bring tools and such and music, other than that enjoy your alone time.

I`ve never went out on a road trip without a few tools , thankfully they`ve all been flawless except for a clogging fuel filter on a mustang..
However music , snacks , energy drinks should make the trip bearable , I guess it also depends on the roads , music is good but not as good as enjoying your car

I've drive back and forth from OH to LI, NY several times now, which is like a 9-10 hour drive.
Have tons of food/water close to you when you're driving.
I try and avoid cruise control just because it helps keep me awake.
Stop for gas when even when you still have a bunch of gas to rest your yourself, and to make sure you don't run out in case you drive through some desolate part of the country.
Fix-a-flat would be good.
