Best power adder for a DD
I was set on spraying the car last year, got a used kit and it turned out to be shot so it never got put on. Now i'm starting to think about going with one of the smaller cams instead. When i say dd, i drive it everyday and have to sometimes go a long distance, couple of trips from Texas to Washington so far, state to state, and also the daily 15-30 miles with it. What do you guys think?

Most cams will give you good streetability, its all in the tune. Make sure you spend the $400 for a quality dyno tune once the cam is put in. I always wanted to do cam, heads, intake, exhaust, and tune. If you get heads and a cam with supporting mods and a dyno tune, you'll be around the 430 rwhp mark. Just be prepared to drop some major money on the trans and rear if you go that far. I was about to get the PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads and a Torquer V2 from TSP, but then I decided to abandon the 4th gen and jumped into a nice C5. Maybe I'll do it to this car someday!! Whatever you decide, good luck and make sure you do your research.

There are alot of people who drive cammed LS1's with no issues at all. As mentioned above the tune is key and she will be fine. Im planning on doing a MS3 cam and with a good tune i should be good. I drive my car 3-4 days a week. The nitrous is also a great idea since it only there when you need it and you can go up to 150wet shot or 100-125dry. Again that comes at another cost and that is to fill up the bottle, if you dont use it much you can go for a while before filling up the bottle. Either way goodluck OP and whichever way you go you'll be impressed with the power.

I'm running New Era Performance's SSHT cam in my Z06. Makes great power and is still very street friendly. After it's warmed up, it drives like it did when it was stock. Find a good tuner also and you'll be good to go. I DD my Z06 during the summer also.

I say you get a nitrous kit from nitrousoutlet if you want a good power adder. Yes, it may be illegal, but it's power only when you want it? Ya know? You get on it with a turbo/blower and down goes your gas the second your in boost.

Best bang for the buck... nitrous (as long as its set up safely, otherwise you could be buying a new motor)
on the other hand.
Cammed LS1's make great daily drivers. Even up into the low 24x duration range, they can be tuned to have good street manners.
I've got a TR Trak cam (231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA) and milled heads running 10.6:1 and drive my car 7 days a week and still get 29 mpg highway. Last year I took it on the Hotrod Magazine Power Tour, 3800 miles in one week, and never felt uncomfortable because the engine was modded. Almost drives like stock, until you mash your foot on the loud pedal.

Personally, even for a daily driver car, I like the idea of a good cam. You get a considerable bump in power, along with a better powerband, good driveability if the tune is dialed in properly, and the icing on the cake is the sound and price. That's what I would go with.

If you google DragonRacing 3.3L there should be a link that comes up to a corvette forum.. There you can find company that modified the 3.3L whipple (thats a Twin Screw style vs roots!) supercharger. Definitely get the upgraded one, as it has a cooler and more boost.
Cooler = reliable, especially with boost

Depends on what you want man. Just a little bump in power or a major "holy ****" bump in power? I'm a fan of the latter so nitrous gets my vote. It can easily make more power than any cam only setup and it doesn't have like stock driveability, it has stock driveability. Down side is it's not always there and you have to turn it on.
You could do a cam and a good safe nitrous setup for way less $$$$ than other FI setups. And any cam you pick will love nitrous, so you could choose the cam with the powerband you like and then when you want to get serious open the bottle.

A full exhaust, mid size cam and even a 100 shot nitrous kit will take alot of lunch money home and surprise people.

Heavy stop and go traffic sucks in a cammed car as it won't just idle along. I had a 232/236 cam though. I live in Texas and have taken it to Bowling Green, Atlanta, and the 2008 Power Tour. I got 26mpg coming back from Atlanta averaging about 80mph! I am taking it on Power Tour this year too with the new cammed LS3.

Man, I run a 228/230 cam and drive it to florida every year. Dan (SIC LSX) has a 231/237 and drives his to florida multiple times a year. It is all in the tune. I have 4.11 gears and get 26mpg's running 85mph to florida last time I checked. If I stay under 80mph is around 27-28mpg's.

At 77mph, I'm only running 2050rpms. At 85mph, I'm running around 2250rpms or 2300rpms. I can't remember exact number. I normally drive around 75-77, which is in the 1900-1950rpm range. Not much different than stock hwy rpms, just different speeds. I have a 26" (25.7 actually) tire.
