Default Oil Consumption Fix

Alright, this is my second LS1... I was hoping this one didn't have any oil consumption issues, but it does. What's the best way to fix this? I've been reading online about different ways to compensate... which way is the best? A catch can? New rings? LS1 -> LS6 PCV mod? I'm tired of this oil consumption problem and it's actually why I just spun a bearing so if someone could tell me the best solution to this problem I'd appreciate it.

How much oil are you consuming? A catch can will keep the oil out of your intake, but if you're seeing excessive oil consumption, then the PCV system is likely not your only nor primary problem.

2,000 miles and it lost 3 quarts 10W30 so it wasn't too thin of oil if that helps...

A quart every 700 miles sounds like more than just a PCV issue. My '02 has no catch can, gets the typical oil film in the intake, but uses no more than maybe 1/2 quart in 3-4,000 miles. And that's with over 100k on it.

EDIT:

My '00 car started using about 1 quart every 1000-1500 miles after I put a cam in it. And that was with a catch can.

Is your current engine stock?

Yeah I already assumed the PCV has gone to SHIT, I guess I'll have to find the other problem. So a catch can and an LS6 PCV is a good idea in the mean time... What else I should look into that might cause this much oil consumption?

The General had oil consumptions problem with many LS1s in '01 and... had to re-ring a bunch of them. When was your engine built? Supposedly, the '02s were "fixed."

All the best.

What is it about camming these engines causes more consumption? The extra cylinder pressure?

Mine eats a little oil but nowhere near that much, i would say that if its burning that much you might want to re ring your pistons.
