Question PCM Wire Question

Searching for a bad ground, or something that was causing a speaker to buzz in my car, I stumbled upon one of my PCM wires that looks to be slightly cut. Not sure if it is shorting out or what, but I was curious if somebody could tell me what this wire is for... kind of a long shot as there are tons of wires out of the PCM. It is purple in color and on the top connector. Just FYI my car is a '98, so the pcm wiring is different.

Thanks for any help you can offer. I'm going to probably solder in a new piece anyways, just curious what this one is for and maybe it isn't functioning at the moment..
You can see the cut in it to the right - Thanks again!

I am gonna guess VSS purple wire... But I'm not sure. Curious if this has something to do with my ASR being off permanently...

Either way, I'm going to splice in a new section of wire, see what happens.
