So about a month ago i started hearing a knocking noise coming from the bottom end of my 99 z28. A mechanic i know told me it could be a rod. So my question is what would you guys do rebuild the engine or swap another one in? Anyone know a good shop in Houston TX where i could get it rebuilt?

Depends, can you pick up a short block in good condition for a decent price?
If so I'd build a fresh motor that can be dropped in when ready.
