when taking off from a stop, only at the beginning when disengaging the clutch, a kind of clunking, rattle type noise comes from up top around the shifter. any ideas on what this could be? is something up top coming loose maybe?

its almost a growling/howling noise.... it didnt all of a sudden start happening, it has progressively gotten worse

Are you sure this is a shifter problem? The exhaust on my M6 car makes a rattling noise because when we ran the exhaust, we tucked it up tight so sometimes when disengaging the clutch, the Y pipe hits on the floor pan.
Common issue with alot of catbacks.

yea its deffinitly not the exhaust hitting the floor. i've had that problem before and thats not whats happening now. after driving it today, its more of a squeaking noise i think. kinda hard to expalin

My stock Hurst started making a rattle too at higher rpm's. I didn't think it was the clutch because it had just been replaced with a Diamond stage 2 awhile back. I went ahead and installed an MGW and now the rattle is gone. No idea what went wrong (everything seemed tight) other than it was an 11 year old shifter.

hopefully thats all it is then! i might pull the console and take a gander at everything just to see if anything has came loose
