I just sat in a 2013 convertible corvette 427 and had the salesguy start it. Nice refined sound that gets a little raucous as it is revved. it is easy to get in and out of, surprisingly, and inside is pretty roomy too.

Anyone take one of these for a spin? Is it a different world from 4th gen with regards to ride, refinement and power? I imagine it is deceptively fast and builds up speed faster than one realizes...

Any insight, good bad or whatever...

Same basic feel as a Z06, yes they are brutally fast for a stock vehicle.

I haven't driven it, but a friend has a Z06. IMO, it's really too fast for a street vehicle. At WOT, whether on sidestreets or the freeway, you're coming up on other traffic so quickly that it can't be sustained. You need wide open roadways or the track for that car.

Yes, it's a whole 'nother world in every respect from an f-body.

I'm 6', and I can fit in my brother's Z06 just fine. It's actually more comfortable than my Firehawk, but I do have to roll out the seat, LOL..I love the way it drives, especially with the cam..

I've never driven a z06 but I have heard it's awesome, even stock. Not sure but I think it has a closer ratio 6 spd in it than my 2002 f bod. Its like a race car on the street.

The 7 litre mill with 7000 rpm redline just hits 60 mph in 1st gear, according to reviews (WOW!), so stretching it out would be next to impossible except for on a track too! There's just something about that engine, I like it more than the 6.2 superchaged.

I don't want to drive the car, I know I will totally enamoured with it... The salesman was kind enough to tell me they are willing to unload their stock of 2013s since they have customers putting money down on the 2014s already! So far a discount of $20-25k off! Too bad they sticker north of $100k... Then again if I get a loan, sell my car, kids... J/k!

Sometimes I feel bad spending money on my WS6 cause I know that someday I'll want to trade it for a 427 Z06. Anyone else know what I mean?

Yup. Most of the time we don't recoup the cost of all the mods we make, double whammy! Big dollar mods always make me feel torn - should I, shouldn't I -do it for this reason...

I still like my car and it is perfectly fine as is. The mod bug has got me, I imagine it wouldn't be too long after getting a new ride that I would be looking for more again, even if it was a 427 vette!

Add in TT&L and you're well over $100k. This one isn't even fully optioned, just the stuff i'd get. there's a few thousand missing probably. I'd imagine most of these commemorative 427 cars are close to fully optioned

The fully optioned (including magnetic shocks) 60 anniversary convert 427 is $112k + all taxes in Ont Canada. Yup, absolutely crazy. I wonder why these cars are just sitting on the lot...

I have never driven a 427 edition car but have had my 06 Z06 since the fall of 05. It is an amazing car. Acceleration, braking, handling, etc are spot on.

I agree. It is quick enough to get some people in trouble.

Are you worried about it dropping an exhaust valve? Have you taken precations to prevent it from happening? Is there anything you can do?

After driving my friend's 2008 Z06 coupe that preceded the 427 convertible, I decided to go ahead and buy one for track days essentially. (Still looking on eBay.)

The 427 convertible is very fast, but manageable on the street in dry weather. Leave the traction control on when ever you drive on the street. That 505 HP comes on quickly and can surprise you if you're not careful.

I wouldn't consider the car as a daily driver unless you do a lot of interstate travel on a daily basis. The car can be a beast to handle in inclement weather. Also, the alignment is very aggressive for the street so tire wear can be a problem.

Still, the convertible would be a fun car for a Sunday ride out in the country. Just be judicious with your right foot, keep the traction control "on", and you'll smiling from ear to ear. It's a great car!

I once drove a H/C LS7 ZO6, and it was glorious. I've never driven a stock LS7 equipped vehicle, but I can testify that a cammed/CNC'd head LS7 is one wicked, wicked machine.

In other words, driving an LS7 will make you re-evaluate your financial responsibility.
