Default Lost on HID's and what all I need to buy!

I'm looking to put a set of HID's in my '99 SS but I have no idea what all I need to buy. Can I just buy new bulbs? What do the ratings mean such as 3k,4k etc. If I need more than just the bulbs, what else do I need and how hard is the install? Thanks for the help guys!

You'll get more responses in the appearance and detailing section.

the "ratings" are the color frequencies. the lower the number the more yellow it will appear, the higher numbers (8k - 12k) will appear more blue or purple. HIDs require the ballasts with the bulbs kinda like a florescent light fixture in a house or building

You can start here. It will inform you of at least the ratings questions you have. No, I don't think you can just replace the bulbs.

I have not done business with them and do not vouch for the reliability of product or services. But I got this link from another thread here on LS1TECH, so I hope it is OK to pass along.
