Why no fifth gen iroc camaros?

from what i understand, they have to pay for using those names, like IROC, like trans ams had to pay the actual trans-am race owners for each car to wear that name. i would think they probly dont wanna pay for it, when they can use z28,zl1,ss all for free, and sell more. just a guess tho. i always liked irocs

A little IROC history:
- They initially used Porsche before switching to Camaros in the 70's.
- It was on January 1, 1990 that the series switched from Camaros to Daytonas (which is why 1990 MY Camaros are comparatively "rare" as they started producing '91's in January 1990). The Camaro IROC-Z was produced from 85-90; Daytona IROC produced '92 & '93.
- The K-based Daytona was out after 1994 to be replaced by the Avenger.
- I believe it was '99 when the series then switched to the use of Trans Ams; they would continue using T/A's until the series folded (yes, even 2003+ after Firebirds were extinct).
What's my point? There's not IROC series, so no real reason to bring it back other than to harken toward the 80's.
