Default corvette

Looking for a new to me corvette. Want sticker price to be roughly 30k. How realistic is this to accomplish and what year and trim level should I look for?

I saw this listing over the weekend. A 2004 C5 Z06 under 5k miles. I like the look of those cars.

I like the look of the c6 better. Will I be underwhelmed by the ls3? Or can it be easily upgraded with bolt ons? Don't want f/I at the moment.

For $30k you can get a nice C6, probably even a lower mileage LS3. As far as being underwhelmed by an LS3, that really depends on what you're used to. Of course it can be upgraded with bolt-ons...it's an LS isn't it?!

Cam only ls3 corvettes are putting down 470. Throw on a pro charger and your easily in the mid 600's. Motors are just beasts.

LS3 is a beast of a motor. And because they are so light, its thats much better than a fbody.

Personally, I would go for a 2006 and spend the "saved" money on mods.
Cammed LS2>stock LS3 IMO.

@ 30K you're kinda right in between picking up a real nice low mileage 05-07 with an LS2; or a bit higher mileage/lower option 08-10 with the LS3. Most of the LS3 cars I've looked at are still in that 33-40 range. The 3LTs bring more money as they have two-tone interior options which are quite neat. The autos usually cost more than the stick cars; and the dual mode exhaust is awesome but is a 1200 dollar option. Plenty of Vette guys keep the axle back and just add longtubes, and simply remove the fuse to open the dual-mode mufflers for a throaty/aftermarket sound. It's real easy to spot this factory echaust on th C6s as the tailpipe tips are a larger diameter and @ close inspection you'll notice the vac-operated valves. Auto trader is probably your best bet to find a nice Vette. I really like the Atomic Orange color and did a quick search and found this one here near your price range.

You can find a great c5/c6 for $30k. Obviously miles and mods will effect the price. Check out corvetteforum.com for a large listing of vettes for sale. Cash is king so you can always look at cars price a little higher.
