Need a tubular K member
I have a 93 camaro it's a v6 car and I have most of the parts to put a carbed small block in it but I've found out that the K members are different so if I have to replace it why not put a tubular one in it

I know a lot of people will disagree with me but here is my input.
If it is a DD I would avoid a tubular K-member, they just aren't as strong as stock units. The constant pounding of street driving will fatigue them resulting in failure, possibly catastrophic.
If you do choose to go tubular then avoid chrome moly if it see much street use. Chrome moly is more brittle, and prone to cracking, than mild steel.
Chrome moly should be relegated to the strip.
If you do choose to go tubular routine inspection to check for cracks would be wise.
Good luck.

If that's the case then a tubular K-member is fine.
The major advantage with going tubular is more clearance, the weight savings in minimal.
There are lots of shops that make k-members some are sponsors ---------------->
I have never been a fan of Chrome Moly as I stated above it is more brittle. This can result in cracking particularly around the welds. Also where mild steel will bend CM can break. This is why NASCAR will not allow it's use.
Do your homework, contact several shops that make them then you can make a informed choice. Remember when talking to shops if they don't make both mild and CM then their opinion of CM might be a bit biased.
Good Luck
Craig
