Default Am I the only one? 1 t top off

I have owned 3 cars with t tops. 80 cutlass calais, 82 firebird and now the 99 firebird. They have all been black t top cars.

Anyway...back when I had the 82..I learned that I could fold the back seat down and slide the drivers side t top behind the drivers seat, and go. After work I am tired and have a 40 min commute so I just want to get on the road without take both tops off and stowing them correctly.

I have only ever seen one other person do this. (on the road with only one side removed).

I am I the only one who does this?

Probably. Picturing it in my head makes me think about convertibles with the top down, but all the windows up.

I've seen one person do this around here. Older white woman. I personally think it looks absurd. I'd rather just leave them both on, than only take one off.

But different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Looks foul, IMO. I've always done both or none at all. But it's just a matter of opinion.

I like the comparison to an older white woman

Most of the time I take them both off, because it is way more awesome and I always have the windows down too. I know it only takes 30 seconds, but some times after work, I am just that tired.

I really like the way the car looks with the t tops off and the windows down.

It really bummed me out when I went to look for a daily commuter this last time and realized that no car had had t tops since 2002. I was very luck to find this 99 that was my favorite color (black) and had t tops, and only had 63K miles.

personaly never have done the single, but im kind of a freak for symetrical looks on cars. hate single exit exhausts for the same reason. but if you like it and it works for you, to hell with the rest of us lol.

That sounds weird, although I usually cruise with the t-tops off and windows up though so I guess I can't really talk lol

I do it all the time for short commutes. If I'm going more than a few miles, both come off.

My friend gives me **** for it too!

When I was 17 (and being a jackass was cool) one time I took it off while driving and set it in the back seat, set the cruise control, and sat on the roof while driving at about 45 mph. But other than that, no.

I did it only once . . . .

Forgot to latch down the driver's side t-top. Drove 20 miles on 45-55mph roads, about 1 mile from my house there is this 2 mile long section of road that is perfectly straight, you can do 100+mph on this stretch. Punch it, driver's side t-top catches some air under it at 80 to 90mph, flies off. Its 12 midnight, I'm never going to find it until daylight. I figure it shattered into a million pieces.

Sure enough, its lodged in a ditch against a white picket fence. Trim has a couple of scuff marks that I manage to get off, it latches right back in, good as new. How in the hell it managed to land, wedge itself upright into the soft ground against the fence and not shatter is a miracle.

that's like treating the TTops like a moon roof , i guess if that makes sense.
