Default skip shift quick question! (ws6 2002) newbie <--

to eliminate the skip shift in my 02 trans am, could I basically just unplug the sensor that is in the transmission, tape it off for debris entry, and call it good? or do I need to have a special skip shift eliminator from a professional store?

either way, what does the solenoid even do that I would unplug from the trans?

thanks!

I would think unplugging it may trigger a check engine light. The eliminators are readily available and very easy to install. Some guys have even made their own with an inline resistor.

Yea, I can buy an eliminator, or a 2200ohm resister to fix it, but I was just curious on what the plug in did, or what happened if you just simply unplugged it?
would it eliminate the skip shift by just unplugging it?

Yeah the skip shift solenoid couldn't lock out 2nd gear with it unplugged, but I'm sure it would throw a code.

so installing the part or resister... is the same as just unplugging it but with no CEL?

Looking at a cel would bother me as much as the skip shift... I had mine tuned out when I had my car tuned, mines a m12 t56 though, but I'm sure it's the same to tune it out
